Rhamnose in plants - from biosynthesis to diverse functions

چکیده
In plants, the deoxy sugar l-rhamnose is widely present as rhamnose-containing polymers in cell walls and part of decoration various specialized metabolites. Here, we review current knowledge on distribution rhamnose, highlighting differences between what known dicotyledoneuos compared to commelinid monocotyledoneous (grasses) plants. We discuss biosynthesis transport UDP-rhamnose, well transfer rhamnose from UDP-rhamnose primary This carried out by rhamnosyltransferases, enzymes that can use a large variety substrates. Some unique characteristics synthases, multifunctional responsible for conversion UDP-glucose into are considered, particularly perspective their ability convert glucose flavonoids. Finally, how little still with regards plants rescue many compounds which it linked, or catabolized.

nitric oxide (no) is an important signalling molecule with diverse physiological functions inplants. in the last years, many advances have been obtained regarding no synthesis and its physiologicaleffects in plants. it was found to play a crucial role in plant growth and development, starting fromgermination to flowering, ripening of fruit and senescence of organs, respiratory metabolism, as we...
متن کاملLignins: Biosynthesis and Biological Functions in Plants
Lignin is one of the main components of plant cell wall and it is a natural phenolic polymer with high molecular weight, complex composition and structure. Lignin biosynthesis extensively contributes to plant growth, tissue/organ development, lodging resistance and the responses to a variety of biotic and abiotic stresses. In the present review, we systematically introduce the biosynthesis of l...
متن کاملRhamnose and rhamnolipide biosynthesis by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa produces, when grown on a glycerol or fructose medium, a unique glycolipide composed of 2 moles each of L-rhamnose and ,%hydroxydecanoic acid. The formula of the isolated compound as determined by Jarvis and Johnson (3) is shown in Fig. 1. Various aspects of the conditions under which this rhamnolipide is produced have been investigated previously. Further, a synthetic me...
متن کاملSodium transporters in plants. Diverse genes and physiological functions.
Soil salinity represents an increasing threat to agricultural production. High sodium (Na) concentrations in soils are toxic to most higher plants. More than 40% of irrigated lands worldwide show increased salt levels. Several studies have shown that under saline conditions, Na influx into root cells occurs via Na permeable transporters (Amtmann et al., 1997; Roberts and Tester, 1997; Tyerman e...
متن کاملBiosynthesis and possible functions of inositol pyrophosphates in plants
Inositol phosphates (InsPs) are intricately tied to lipid signaling, as at least one portion of the inositol phosphate signaling pool is derived from hydrolysis of the lipid precursor, phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate. The focus of this review is on the inositol pyrophosphates, which are a novel group of InsP signaling molecules containing diphosphate or triphosphate chains (i.e., PPx) ...
